Honorary Chairman Hasan TÜREK (1926-2005)

He was born in Manisa, in 1926. Hasan Türek is the doyen of Manisa’s industry, has continued his business life until he was 79 years old as the Honorary Chairman of Türek Company Group.

Hasan Türek has become Vice President of Chamber of Commerce of Manisa in 1964, then he has appointed as the President of Manisa Chamber of Commerce in 1965. He has continued this duty for seven years until 1972. His efforts for establishing “Organized Industrial Zone” in Manisa has started in 1965, and which has taken an important place in the agenda of Manisa under his management. The committee established within the organization of Chamber of Commerce and conducted entire work for the establishment of Organized Industrial Zone which was again headed by Hasan Türek. Hasan Türek, worked on the construction of Organized Industrial Zone under difficult conditions as President of Board of Director. On the other side he worked as the President of Chamber of Commerce.

Hasan Türek was elected as the President of Board of Directors of “Manisa Organized Industrial Zone” in 1966 and he worked as the President until 1994, for 28 years.

Establishment of Manisa Organized Industrial Zone was Hasan türek’s biggest dream. Moreover, as a businessman, he also planned to build a factory in this industrial zone. Hence, in 1969 he has established Manisa Feed Factory with 112 shareholders and gave a new perspective to the city where we born and raised. At the time there were not many joint stock companies in the region.

After starting the operations of the feed factory, he has entered oil sector since it is closely related with feed sector and established Ege Yağ San. ve Tic. A.Ş., in 1981 year, created Yonca Gıda San. AŞ., which is one of the valuable companies of our country.

Türek has contributed both to the economy of his country as well as to Manisa by making new investments. Rather than investing for personal purposes he has always worked to create value.

Hasan Türek was a philanthropist businessman, always believed that success can only be achieved with education and has constructed a modern high school in Manisa in 2003 and donated the high school to Ministry of Education and said “ we will continue to donate what we earn by making production in order to improve the quality of education for our young people”.

He has donated eleven thousand square meters of land he had purchased to the university where the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences was built in Manisa under the management of Dokuz Eylül University. These contributions laid down the foundation of Celal Bayar University in the following years. Hasan Türek has been the Member of the Management Board and Executive Committee of Higher Education Foundation of Celal Bayar University of Manisa where he has acted as one of the founders. He has also chaired the Association of Protection and Development of Celal Bayar University.

Hasan Türek constructed a Coronary Intensive Care Unit for Manisa State Hospital. Türek had also constructed of modern Coronary Intensive Care Unit for Research and Application Hospital of Celal Bayar University. Hasan Türek, was also constructed an additional polyclinic building to Moris Şinasi Children Hospital in the name of his wife Hikmet Türek in 2004.

In addition to this, Türek, he helped Turkish Students to perform cancer researches in Japan by providing scholarships to them. In this respect, Hasan Türek Foundation was established in Japan, and Turkish students are performing post-graduate studies on cancer with the funds provided by the Foundation. The students now give his name to the genes they discover and continue their studies with success.

Hasan TÜREK was a doyen businessman and charitable person had passed away on 30 March in 2005; he was married and had three children, two daughters, and a son.
